Diesel Mechanic

Denver, CO          Full Time          Experienced

SUMMARY:

Trouble shoots diesel engines and trailer systems. Completes PM of equipment. Repairs /replacement diesel engine parts and mechanical and hydraulic equipment.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to the Shop Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates with Shop Foreman to establish priorities
  • Performs and records regular PM activities
  • Trouble shoots engine, running gear, and hydraulic systems
  • Repairs engine, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment
  • Contacts shop supervision to order parts as needed
  • Replaces parts to equipment
  • Performs inspection and repair functions for trailers. Assists shop personnel with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic work.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 18 years of age. Able to pass all pre-employment screens

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School education required. Experience and proficiency in diesel engine maintenance and repair with a minimum of three years work experience. Knowledge necessary to inspect equipment for safety and operational concerns.

COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS:

Ability to communicate and work well with personnel at all levels within the organization.

PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS:

Prepares in advance for known fluctuations in workloads.

PHYSICAL NEEDS:

Must be able to work from crouched positions, reach into equipment, lay beneath equipment. Able to work from ladders, able to safely enter and exit tractor cabs and trailers. Able to work with cleaning agents and petroleum products. Must be capable of working in external environments. Must be able to work for extended periods on concrete flooring and in a variety of body positions. Must be able to climb staircases. Must be able to lift, and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

PAY:

$28/hour
