IT Business Analyst

Denver, CO          Full Time          Experienced

SUMMARY:

The IT Business Analyst is accountable for enhancing quality of IT products and services. Acts as the liaison between business groups and IT, interacting with system users to identify, create and maintain strategic business needs with a technology focus. Works with Mile Hi stakeholders to identify specific deliverables from company goals and objectives, develop innovative solutions, drive adoption, ensure best practices and optimal architecture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Support (70%)

  • Create functional specifications to translate business requirements into application impacts. Facilitates the understanding, clarification and implementation of business requirements and works with key partners in IT to turn those into functional design.
  • Design, develops, trains, and implements data gathering and reporting methods and procedures for operations.
  • Document workflows and results of business analysis.
  • Streamlines and/or automates internal and external reporting.
  • Assist site operations in identifying areas for improving service levels, reducing operational costs, and providing other operational enhancements.
  • Applies hindsight, insight, and foresight techniques to communicate complex findings and recommendations to influence others to take action.
  • Uses spreadsheets, databases, and relevant software to provide ongoing analysis of operational activities.
  • Investigate and recommend new technologies and information systems.
  • Conducts feasible analysis on various processes and equipment to increase efficiency of operations.
  • Prioritize and manage several projects/tasks at one time.

Application Support (15%)

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on business systems and processes.
  • Identify use cases, testing scenarios and workflow changes for key business functions.
  • Identify gaps and solutions to resolve.
  • Assist with architecture documentation as needed

Project Support (15%)

  • Champion major projects from ideation to implementation.
  • Assist with Project Management (act at PM, notes, meetings, driving timelines and dependencies).
  • Assist with defining both technical and functional requirements.
  • Maintain project scope by keeping the solution as a focus and managing “scope creep”.
  • Monitor and maintain post implementation timelines.

Additional Responsibilities (Varied)

  • Accountable for properly following all IT standards, processes, and methodologies as applicable including but not limited to Quality Assurance (QA), Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC) and Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Other responsibilities and accountabilities may be assigned based on business and organizational needs.

  • Occasional lifting five to fifty pounds.
  • Walk up and down stairs (6-20) steps two to ten times per shift.
  • Walk from 15 to 100 feet two to ten times per shift.
  • Walk from Division to Division, which includes stairs and crossing streets which may have weather conditions present.
  • Climbing up on 6ft ladders to adjust wiring or cameras when needed.
  • Able to reach, stretch and adjust wiring from an elevated position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification

  • High school or equivalent education. Preferred Associate Degree or higher.

Experience

  • 3+ years of Operational systems support experience.
  • 3-5 years of implementing solutions including complex system integration.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of

The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate. When the employee enters the warehouse, yard, or Shop areas they will be exposed to extremes in temperature, slick walking surfaces, and dust. The office requires entry by stairways of from three to seventeen steps.

PAY:

$73-75k / year (BOE)

SCHEDULE:

Monday – Friday + some weekend availability (as needed)
