Staff Accountant

Job Description

The Staff Accountant prepares and records general ledger entries and reconciles account balance. Supports in processing AR/AP transactions including preparation of the ACH payment/receipt of daily activity. This individual will also be responsible for daily/weekly and monthly management reporting.
Responsibilities
(other duties may be assigned):
    • Ensure general ledger balances with sub-ledger reports for monthly financial statement preparation
    • Month-end close
    • Create monthly reports for financials
    • Assist with general accounting duties
    • Research account/process discrepancies
    • Enter invoices into JDE and post expenses into GL accounts
    • Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls
    • Coordinate compliance with and manage audits from local municipalities for sales tax
    • Maintain detailed and organized records of all documentations received with appropriate backup attached
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or the equivalent years of experience. Experience in a manufacturing environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with all levels of the organization. Ability to maintain a professional relationship in phone, email, and written correspondence with individuals within and outside of the company.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to anticipate challenges such as problems in achieving deadlines early enough to report to management with resolution to issues.

Requirements

  • Prior experience with owning and enhancement ERP AAI (Automatic Accounting Instructions)
  • Working knowledge of Accounting and Payroll software and systems such as JDE /UKG Pro.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior experience as the sole lead on year-end audits including preparing information for audits.
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility and the ability to set priorities.
  • Work accurately with close attention to detail.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Minimum education, training, and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline required.
  • Designation of CPA preferred.
  • At least 7+ years of experience in the field of accounting.
  • Knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable/including cash posting
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with MS Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Oracle JDE Software knowledge a plus

    • Occasional lifting 5 to 50 pounds.
    • Walk up and down stairs (6-20) steps two to ten times per shift.
    • Walk from 15 to 100 feet two to ten times per shift.
    • Walk from Division to Division, which includes stairs and crossing streets which may have weather conditions present.
    • Able to reach, stretch and adjust from an elevated position to retrieve and file documents from floor level to 6 feet in height.

When the employee enters the warehouse, yard, or Shop areas they will be exposed to extremes in temperature, slick walking surfaces, and dust. The office requires entry by stairways of from three to seventeen steps.

8am - 5pm / Monday - Friday
Compensation
$55,000 - $65,000/year
