Job Description

Provides timely and accurate deliveries to Mile Hi customers while working in a safe manner. This job requires a high level of customer service.
Responsibilities
(other duties may be assigned):
  • Comply with all DOT, State, local regulations, and company policies.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report problems.
  • Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service calls to Dispatch before attempting deliveries.
  • Participates and cooperates in all scheduled trainings, briefings, and meetings as required by Safety Manager.
  • Works closely with Route Managers to improve route efficiencies and identify problems or unsafe conditions at stores.
  • Performs all duties as scheduled by Dispatch and assists other company drivers as directed.
  • Notifies Dispatcher & Safety Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
  • Communicates customer requests or issues to Dispatch.
  • Follows route assignments throughout the shift and completes all documentation when checking-in at the end of the route.
  • Obtain paperwork before dispatching.
  • Operate a commercial Class B vehicle and delivery tasks in a safe manner.
  • Conduct professional and courteous relations with customers and co-workers.
  • Sign-on and sign-off on electronic logs in trucks, as required.
  • Communicate with dispatch when problems and/or questions arise.
  • Comply with customer policies.
  • Complete invoicing as needed.
  • Unload and place product in zones as specified by customer via assisted throw route method or unassisted, car, cage, or euro pallet.
  • Manually move 70 to 2,000 lbs. of product from truck to store (50 to 100’) with a hand jack (euro pallet routes).
  • Provide credit as authorized.
  • Return back-haul(s) to designated destinations and provide paperwork
  • Pick up dunnage and place in designated areas of the MHF warehouse.
  • Maintain clean cab (smoking in cabs in NOT permitted)
  • Re-fuel and Wash unit.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B
  • Must be 23+ years of age.
  • High School education or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Must have one year of CDL-B driving experience.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, background, and motor vehicle record (MVR) review.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Ability to communicate and work well with personnel at all levels within the organization.
  • Must be able to maintain positive relations with customers, lumpers, and co-workers, including during challenging communication situations.
  • Must be able to communicate job-related issues via telephone with customers and dispatch.
  • English language skills are required.

Physical Needs
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment DOT physical
  • Must be able to enter and exit the truck in a safe manner by use of handholds and footholds 6 – 15 times over an 8-to-14-hour shift.
  • Must be able to enter and exit trailer through side and rear doors at an elevation of approximately 4’ by use of bumper, handholds, and footholds, and or steps 6 to 15 times over an 8-to-14-hour shift.
  • Must be able to lift a dock plate weighing up to 80lbs and maneuver it in and out of place 1 to 6 times per shift.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to be alert to traffic conditions.
  • Must be able to bend, crouch, and kneel.
  • Must be able to handle up to 70lbs on a repetitive basis.
  • Must be able to push/pull loads weighing up to 1,000lbs on a two-wheeler or hand jack.
Compensation
$25-$27 / hour (DOE) + $5,000 Sign-on Bonus
