Transportation Clerk II

Denver, CO          Full Time          Experienced

SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing clerical and administrative assistance to the transportation department. This position requires working with all areas to meet the department goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Run customer invoices, route manifests, and prepare driver packages.
  • Verify driver paperwork-packets are completed correctly when they return.
  • Enter reliability and efficiency data into the system.
  • Process customer and driver delivery calendars.
  • Process checks for equipment purposes.
  • Handle assisting customers with “DA”s”, direct calls to various designated departments.
  • Support dispatchers during peak times, conducting driver pre-trips, post trips, and packet preparation.
  • Monthly fuel and mileage reports.
  • Back-up support for payroll and log audit reports.
  • Monthly tractor and trailer billing.
  • Maintain DOT inspection reports.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems specific to vehicle titles.
  • Title transfers, certificate of insurance procedures, assist with vehicle insurance
  • Assist with preliminary hiring process
  • Assist in maintaining compliance files
  • Quarterly tax filings
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School education or equivalent.

  • Capable of using Microsoft Word and Excel, with keyboarding skills and ability to learn software for data entry and report usage.

  • General knowledge of Fleet operations, equipment and terminology would be helpful.

  • One year of experience in general office work.

COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS:

  • Ability to communicate in oral and written form with employees at all levels and vendors.

PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS:

  • Able to anticipate potential problems and create contingency plans to ensure work is accurate and timely.

  • Time Management with flexibility to cover all aspects of the job.

PHYSICAL NEEDS:

  • Must be able to climb staircases on a daily basis while carrying documents.
  • Must be able to lift, carry and stack bound documents weighting up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to file and retrieve documents to and from storage cabinets ranging in height from floor to five feet elevation.

PAY:

$23- $25/hour (DOE)

SCHEDULE:

8am – 5pm (flexible) / Monday – Friday

The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate. When the employee enters the warehouse, yard, or Shop areas they will be exposed to extremes in temperature, slick walking surfaces, and dust.
The office requires entry by stairways of from three to seventeen steps.
